2021 Winner

Air Social Digital Marketing Agency wins GLOBAL award for innovative Facebook campaign

The Air Social team has ended the week on a global high with the fantastic news that we’ve been named one of the top agencies in the world for our use of social media.

During a virtual ceremony held on 25th March, 2021, we were crowned winners of the Best Use of Facebook category at the Global Social Media Awards for our #KEEPSURREYSAFE campaign, which we delivered alongside Surrey County Council’s communication department to trace, track and notifying people of localised outbreaks of coronavirus via social media and geo-targeting.

The #KEEPSURREYSAFE campaign enabled Surrey County Council (SCC) to provide real-time updates and signpost residents in specific towns and villages to relevant information and guidance within minutes of any spike in cases occurring.

A spokesman for Surrey County Council added: “The Air Social team have been a fantastic asset that Surrey County Council has been able to call upon during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through the targeted digital advertising they are managing, our vital proactive and reactive information is seen by the right people at the right time. The speed and accuracy of our messages being conveyed via these digital channels have been an instrumental element of our COVID-19 communications strategy.”

The campaign was so successful, it was also adopted by Devon and West Sussex county councils and it is hoped that a similar approach will be adopted by local authorities to inform and educate residents about vaccine roll outs available in their local area.

The Global Social Media Awards celebrate businesses around the world that are crashing through the algorithms and channelling the chatter to create innovative, meaningful engagement that produces tangible results.

The international judging panel, which included experts from industry-recognised companies, such as Vodafone, Legal & General, Ocado, Nestlé and Red Bull, praised Air Social for its impressive use of geo-targeting, which allows different content to be delivered to consumers based on their geographic locations.

“We thought this campaign was brilliant. It made the most of the Facebook tools available and proved crucial given the limitations faced around content and budget,” the judges said. “The use of advanced methods of geo-targeting was impressive, as was the fact that the campaign is now being used by other councils.”

Air Social Managing Director, Alexandra Vinall, praised her team’s hard work and forward-thinking approach, as well as the support of the communications team at SCC.

She commented: “During what has been a particularly challenging time, my employees have really stepped up, surpassing expectations with their innovative thinking and positive approach. This global award is recognition for their and SCC’s hard work and also highlights how social media tools, when applied correctly, can be used to target important messaging in a way no other medium can.”
