Make the most of Black Friday – how to create a Christmas marketing campaign

As the famous coke advert goes, holidays are coming and if you’re a business, you should be making the most of the season. While spending ebbs and flows throughout the year, families almost always spend big at Christmas and you don’t want to miss out on a slice of that pie.

So you’ll want to make sure that your marketing is on point. Good news is you don’t need a John Lewis-sized budget to create a Christmas marketing campaign. Here are Air Social’s top tips:

Go big on branding

Whether you have a physical store or your brand is solely online-based, this is the time of year to go big to make sure your brand is noticed among all the others vying for attention. Add some Christmas sparkle to your logo or incorporate some festive graphics that you can use on social media and in your direct marketing emails.

Give the gift of a special offer

Help boost sales both in the lead up to Christmas and afterwards with limited-time offers, such as a Black Friday deal or an advent calendar-style campaign where you do lots of offers in a countdown to Christmas.  It could be anything from free shipping to a percentage off a service. Keep customers checking back with your business after the festive season is over by providing a coupon towards a future purchase.

Spread the festive cheer

Use this time of year to thank your existing customers as well as attracting new ones. Do what you can to make them feel appreciated. Perhaps send a Christmas card to your database or a simple thank you note with no selling or advertising involved.

Create a gift guide

People are always looking for different ideas for Christmas gifts so give them a helping hand by sending them a festive guide. If you have multiple products or services then try to match them to different family members.  If not then perhaps think about a ‘Guide to Christmas’, which you might be able to shoe-horn your product or service into.

Give something back

Giving something back to those less fortunate is not only a nice thing to do at this time of year but it will also have a positive effect on your brand image. See if you can partner with a charity on a Christmas campaign to raise money and perhaps promise to match all or a percentage of what is made. Not only is this a good business move but it will also provide you with content for blogs and email marketing.
