West Sussex County Council – Active Travel
Using demographic and geo-targeting, Air Social helped West Sussex County Council promote active travel choices to parents via Meta ads.
West Sussex County Council needed support in the promotion of a new environmentally-friendly travel initiative.
The local authority was embarking on an important project to promote active travel choices (alternatives to cars) encouraging people to walk, cycle or scoot to and from school.
The campaign specifically needed to reach parents of school-age children across Chichester, Horsham and Shoreham.
Air Social utilised demographic and geo-targeting to reach only parents within the pre-defined areas.
We developed campaigns across Meta (Facebook and Instagram), reaching users within pre-defined areas to encourage parents of school-age children to consider active travel choices.
The campaign took place over two months, starting in the summer holidays and running through to the end of September to coincide with Bike to School Week.
Air Social designed creative advertising assets for the campaign, which featured eye-catching images of children and parents enjoying alternative modes of transport.
The campaign encouraged parents to consider starting school life with active travel choices, giving them a chance to prepare and service/buy bikes before their children started reception.
The campaign was very successful reaching parents across West Sussex with over 1,800,000 impressions and driving over 12,800 clicks.
This has actively helped West Sussex County Council reduce emissions and car usage across the county.
Data is currently being gathered on the long-term impact of the campaign on improving active travel uptake among the target audience.
