Planet Woking is an initiative set up by Woking Borough Council to raise awareness and promote local participation in the ecological future of the borough.
Woking Borough Council has committed to fighting climate change, setting out its bold strategy through ‘Woking 2050 – A Vision for a Sustainable Borough’.
Air Social was brought on board to help deliver this project by creating an engaging brand that would entice the people of Woking to get excited about environmental change in the borough, as well as a website which would act as a resource.
We also needed to generate social media and PR campaigns that would help to build databases of residents’ email addresses – a captive audience that would want to be kept up to date with future news.
We started by developing the logo and brand identity, which took on a craft-inspired feel with neutral green tones to encapsulate the eco-nature of the project. This was incorporated into an easy-to-use website, built with the capacity to grow as The Planet Woking project’s remit widened.
To complement the website, we created an engaging social media schedule of relevant, eye-catching content, alongside a series of event and campaign ideas to help promote the initiative.
A Little Planet Woking side-arm of the brand was also devised to appeal to children. For this, we injected brighter colours and created custom animations that could be used on the website and in social posts.
“Air Social’s expertise in digital media and marketing has been essential to Planet Woking’s growth and success”
Meanwhile, the people of Woking have a directory-style resource where they can look up ideas and find inspiration for things they can do at home and at work to help lighten their environmental footprint.
The project has contributed to Air Social being shortlisted for a number of awards, including the Global Agency Awards and Surrey Business Awards.
We continue to manage the Project Woking initiative as it grows.
