The Challenge

The initiative required new branding and digital marketing support to attract new customers and shop ‘partners’.

MyTown encourages people to shop locally by delivering products from independent shops direct to their doorstep using carbon-neutral cargo bikes. They collect from multiple locations including artisan shops, farmers market stalls and other specialists.

Launched initially in the towns of Woking and Richmond in Surrey, the new initiative from the MyTown brand required a full set of creatives including a new logo, colour palette, brand guidelines and a social media creative pack of assets that could be used across advertising platforms.

As well as raising awareness of MyTown Shops among consumers, the new brand also required member sign-ups from local businesses ahead of the launch.

Our Approach

MyTown Shops required a fresh and contemporary icon that would reflect the functionalities of the initiative.

Our creative team designed a logo that featured a pin emblem with motion stripes to represent the speed of delivery and information available at the user’s fingertips, before establishing an impactful and easily recognisable brand identity with bright colours and striking cut-out imagery that popped from the creative a little like pop art.

Because the initiative required sign ups from shop ‘partners’ as well as consumer engagement to use the service, our targeted social media advertising campaign had a two-pronged approach.

We created carousel posts promoting (organically) the different businesses utilising MyTown Shops services and then ran targeted advertising on Facebook and Instagram to encourage customers to use the service and more businesses to get on board.

The Results

The campaign was so successful that the initiative was soon rolled out to other towns in Surrey.

It now operates in neighbourhoods across the UK from Chiswick to Cambridge and Dalston to Devon.

Along with a member brochure pack we designed to give new shop ‘partners’ guidance on how to market their involvement with the initiative our initial surrey-based targeted social media campaign has been used as a template for the MyTown Shops expansion to towns across the UK.
